Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (W.E.E.E.) Directive
The recently introduced law regarding disposing of electrical equipment means that building managers, operators and owners now have a responsibility to ensure that old lamps and end of life electrical equipment are handled in accordance with the Directive and are forced to recycle these items as opposed to sending them to landfill sites. By appointing WPS to carry out your maintenance program ensure that you comply with the law.
The component metals and substances that make up the equipment such as mercury, sodium and other rare metals have seen lamps reclassified as hazardous waste and therefore it will no longer be acceptable to deposit in landfill sites.
